At Swift Canoe & Kayak, I worked in a hands-on composite manufacturing environment while completing my college diploma.
My work included manufacturing and repairing canoe and kayak components, finishing composite parts, maintaining production molds, and supporting general production work. Over time, I was given responsibility for the afternoon shift, where I supervised three employees and made sure the work was organized and moving efficiently.
That meant balancing my own production work with assigning tasks, helping solve problems, and making sure the shift met the expected quality and output.
The experience gave me a strong foundation in practical composite manufacturing, but it also gave me some of my first experience managing a small team and taking responsibility for day-to-day production.
